I’m a planner. I plan things according to my core values. I love organizing things. I love order. I’m more productive when my office desk or my work area at home is clean and orderly. I hate mess. Chaos drives me nuts. That’s why I make a to-do list when I have lots of things to do on a given day.

What do I do on days when everything doesn’t seem to work right? When I’m stuck in a place where my plans A, B, or C don’t work? Here are a few questions I often ask myself:

  1. What can I learn from this experience? What should I do next time so that it won’t happen again?
  2. What can I buy or do for my personal, family or work needs?
  3. Is there a friend who works or lives nearby so I can visit him/her?
  4. Are there messages in my cellphone that I haven’t replied to yet?
  5. Who can I pray for today? I review my daily prayer list on my cellphone and pray

When I’m done with these items and still cannot do anything else, I just enjoy the moment, enjoy the view and the people, or take photos. Haha!

There are days when things don’t go as planned and there are really bad days when series of unfortunate events just happen. So although I’m a planner, I’m also flexible and let things happen as it should.

Because I am not, and cannot always be, in-charge of everything that happens. In those wicked days, I ask God to be in-control. And I do my best to be still and let Him do the work. After all, He’s the God of the universe and He knows what’s best for me.

Romans 8:28 says: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

  1. awww… me too.. i’m a planner. And when things don’t go according to plan, i prioritize my to-do list or change it. I’m open for change, not right away though, but i am.

When things go out of hand, i stay silent and pray. Take a deep breath and do it again. this time with a refreshed mind and with God in control. It works. Sadly, I don’t often ask for God to help me out.. 😦
