They say if you want to experience something different, then you have to do something you’ve never done before.
Sometimes travelling alone can be more liberating than travelling with someone or with groups – depending on your preference and after considering your safety.
Solitary travel opens you up to many other possibilities: getting happily lost on your way but enjoying the moment, meeting new friends, going to places where your companions may not go, and doing things your way that others may not do.
That was my Facebook post last Saturday, September 7, 2013 as I used a new profile photo with one of the famous ruins of Corregidor Island at the background.
It was my first time in that historic island so I woke up at 3:00 am to avoid getting late in our rendezvous (I live in the mountains, in the outskirts of Manila that’s why). This was an event organized by three ANZ Manila Clubs: Backpackers, Shutterbugs, and Book Lovers. Incidentally, I’m a member of the first two. Obviously, I’m a firm believer in work-life balance.
Because part of our travel expense was subsidized by the company, we only paid Php 550 (instead of Php 2,100).
Below was our itinerary for our fun and meaningful trip:
6:30 am – Check-in at Sun Cruises Terminal – CCP Complex Roxas Blvd Pasay City.
7:15 am – Boarding Time
8:00 am – ETD Manila
9:15 am – ETA Corregidor

1:00 pm – Continuation of the tour
2:30 pm – ETD Corregidor
3:45 pm – ETA Manila
The whole trip was quite an awesome experience for me and I hope to return there next time with family or friends.

Oh I miss the place. Wanna know what’s my fave spot corregidor? Its the Eternal flame. Try to stay there longer. I stayed there for 4 nights and 5 days because we were shooting a film. Wow! You stayed that long in Corregidor? 🙂 It must be an awesome experience, Sunshine. You must have known the “heart and soul” of the place by the time you left.
Was that film you shot there shown commercially in cinemas or was it for a school/company project of sorts? 🙂

Yeah! Its fun but creepy at night. I magine shooting in ruins at night 🙂 yeah the film was an entry for cinema one film festival.

I have always wanted to visit this place and reconnect with the ruins of history, but each person I invited to travel with me has turned me down. Goodness, they’re all scared. Hehehe!
